I think the best reason not to upgrade would be if you like playing nations that already had lots of content, and/or if the AI doing certain dumb stuff more than usual is going to really bother you. A place to share content, ask questions and/or talk about the grand strategy game Europa Universalis IV by Paradox Development Studio. And a number of really nice QOL features. There is also a ton more content in terms of missions, national ideas and events. And of course there are some additions that weren’t so good and either get ignored or were removed. War is just a tool to increase your economic strength. Victoria is about economics and politics. Stellaris is better when it comes to customization for battles and diversity of play styles, but that's about it. There's definitely some GSG elements here, but less so than EU. Stellaris is more of a 4x game than a grand strategy game. It's the most 'map painting' of all paradox games. EU is Paradox's flagship series and it shows. A nice thing to look for is salt producing provinces, they grant a ton of fort defense. Everything not war is just to increase your ability to wage war. On the minus side, I don’t like the new merc system much and some of the 1.31 mechanics are ok but still need balancing. I usually build in Mountain/Hill chokepoints first, then look at the Zone of Control map mode and plug any holes on whatever terrain the holes are at. You can choose to blob like crazy or play a more chill game. So if you're in western Europe (as Naples are) you can make trade companies in eastern Europe (as Ragusa is).Īlso, Cape is colonisable and it's also one of the best provinces in the world to colonise with it's 15 base development.
